Although the Beijing Olympics 2008 is over, there was the Beijing Para-Olympics 2008 that took place soon after the closing of the Games. It was not surprising that many were not very aware of the Para-Olympics 2008 as there were much lesser media coverage on it, compared to the earlier Olympic game.

The Para-Olympics is organised for atheltes who have various forms of physical challenges, competiting for medals, glory for their country and against themselves.

However, the results and medals of these competitions  seem to pale in comparison to what these sportsmen and women, (YES, SPORTSMEN AND SPORTSWOMEN, I bet they are very much stronger and fitter than those who are physically normal!) go through during their training and doing well in their sports even though they are physically challenged. I find their determination all-inspiring! Take rider, Laurentia Tan Yen Yi for example. Though diagnosed with cerebral palsy and profound deafness, she went against all odds.... and got our first para-olympic bronze medal! Isn't that awesome or what!!!!

Put yourself in their shoes, would you had worked hard like them, trained hard like them? Or would you have put on your "pity-me" hat and say "there is nothing I can do"? I think these local sports atheletes are just brave, strong, and inspiring. So the next time you feel like life is boring, meaningless or just plain unfair, think about what you already have.
